Temperatures may have been nudging 20 degrees Celsius last Thursday evening, but at No. 23 thoughts were firmly fixed on Autumn/Winter 2012. Preen’s gorgeous Autumn/Winter 2012 collection to be precise as fashion’s most lovely couple, Thea Bregazzi and Justin Thornton, hosted a private shopping preview for a lucky few fashion insiders.

‘You see what buyers are buying in the showroom,’ adds Thea, ‘but you don’t know 100 per cent what the woman on the street wants until you meet them in person. Events like this are great from that point of view. As a designer, there is nothing better than seeing somebody wearing something of yours, seeing what they actually select off the rails. Sometimes it’s quite surprising and not at all the things you would expect. Women are more instinctive: ‘Oh, I could wear this to that party or this event.’’

There was lots of ‘instinctive’ shopping going on with No 23 taking on a distinctly party atmosphere. I blame the Prosecco – and the amazing clothes of course.
